My new year’s resolution to blog daily has failed miserably. It was an overly ambitious commitment made at the height of optimism. Some people fail at diets, I fail at consistency. My apologies to all my readers who have been holding their breath for those long-ago promised encaustic tutorials and show reviews. The problem isn’t that I don’t have the material. I have taken tons of pictures at a number of exhibitions, and have a handful of drafts that were never completed. The crux of the problem is, when it’s Life versus Blog – Life wins every time. Especially a Life as tumultuous as an artist’s.

With the start of the school year right around the corner, I am formally apologizing in advance for what is sure to be another long season of sporadic blogging, at best. Though, I do assure you, I will be blogging. Who knows? Maybe it will be easier to write short entries, when my professors are already forcing me to think more determinately about art. And while I can recant my previous personal commitment to blog daily, I do promise to do my best to blog, at a minimum, weekly.

However, it is one thing to retract my daily commitment, it is another thing entirely to change the name of my blog, The Daily Drip. Let’s face it. For an encaustic focused site, this title is too clever to let go. So between you and me, let’s informally call it the Semi-Daily Drip for now, while leaving the real title in place. (You and I both know I wouldn’t have the time to change it anyways. I can’t fathom the number of places it is listed on the internet, and I’m not about to go hunting them all down.)

In the meantime, I’d love to hear your suggestions for articles and tutorials you’d like to see here. If you have a witty title that you think would fit better, please share. (Especially if it somehow incorporates both the wax and the book art aspect of my work).

A blog post about blogging from an artist. Now wasn’t that fun?

Haley, I wish you a fabulous semester, and look forward to hearing about your art studies! When you get a moment to post, that is. :0

(Wishing they’d had the internet and blogs at any time during my 6 college experiences. All I have are stacks of slides and papers documenting those parts of my life).
