Suburban Bird. Oil & Encaustic. 12 x 16. © 2009 Haley Nagy. SOLD.
Whew. Have you missed me? The past few weeks have been crazyness itself. Well, I’m back in the good ole city of Chicago now, but the move isn’t even close to over. This strange transitory state of being won’t end until our rental application is approved and our stuff has been delivered from Austin. Hopefully we should have word by the end of this week. Coming back to Chicago feels like coming home… except that we don’t have a place to call our own yet. Didn’t I say something about homelessness recently? Nothing makes you appreciate the roof over your head like not having one (well, technically, not having one of our own).
That being said, I’d like to take a moment to give credit to a couple of people who deserve it for their recent support of the Nagy family.
Cheers:
-Our family, of course, for their love, understanding and patience as we leave Texas for the second time.
-Our friends in Austin. Distance makes the heart grow fonder. The list could go on forever… the Baptist Burkleys, the Primeouxs, the Robb Family, Carolyn & Mitsy, Mary Lou SalsaQueen, the SJN Choir, Mother Biehler, the fab Olsons, my RCIA confidantes, the Dehans, the Kim Family and all the other organ enthusiasts whose names I promise to spell wrong.
-My co-workers, for showing a genuine interest in my welfare and my art.
-Our friends in Chicago. Thanks for all the welcome back wishes and for packing our schedule to the brim.
-Members of Texas Wax for their incredible encouragement and support. Wax on, Wax off.
-Last but not least: Our dear friend Peg, for graciously hosting us until housing arrangements can be made. Without her, we would be in a rat-infested studio apartment, begging for wheat-free bread on the streets. And our little dog too.
What would my blog be if I couldn’t use it to do a little free-range venting? Now that I’m safely out of arms reach, I’d like to take a moment to point a finger at the rotten, snobs that made our lives in Austin a miserable, living hell. This is another list that could go on forever…
Jeers:
-The family of a certain former music director, for sending me horrible messages through my website and leaving an insurmountable legacy of hurt and mistrust in our new parish. (And yes, N.C. I can see you checking my website and searching for info on my husband’s salary…). Shameful.
-A certain person for your soon to be famous parting words, “I suppose that you would prefer to be in a community that can truly appreciate your bilingual speaking abilities, and Chicago may be a good match for that.”. What’s crazy speak for “good riddance”?
-Another certain person for the pre-Christmas-hissy-fit which was the final straw that broke my desire to sing in any choir. Ever.
-Every person who sent a hurtful e-mail (you know who you are). May you never know the true consequences of your actions.
And now on to better news. I sold my painting, Suburban Bird, at the recent opening of the Degrees show! Many thanks to everyone who worked so hard to put that show together.
xoxo,
