Down Time & The Green Machine

the-green-machine

I’ve got a lot of free time lately since I put on the wrist brace. There’s not a whole lot I can do anymore. Most of my hobbies require the use of fine motor skills. I can’t paint; although I have already made 3 batches of medium (no fine motor skills needed there!). I can’t use the computer very well… it’s probably what got me in to this mess in the first place. I can sort of knit, but the lack of a rotating wrist isn’t good for my knitting tension. I can certainly read… and have already gone through two books (What can I say? I’m a fast reader.) I’m no lefty either, so loosing the use of my right hand has really limited what I can do when I get home. As it is, I’m two finger typing this very blog posting.

I’ve got two weeks before the doctor says I can take the brace off. I even have to sleep in the darn thing. Ugh. So I’m trying to take advantage of my “free time” to plan for some upcoming projects. I’m gathering supplies and setting things in place. Ideally, I’d like to get a couple of small hand-knits finished before my upcoming trip to Chicago.

So, here’s where I want your input. I’m purchased two beautiful hand-spun skeins of green, hand-dyed, 100% wool. I’ve got a plan for one of them. If green were your favorite color, which of the two would you prefer? They are both a mix of white and soft pastel, lime and dark greens. The difference is the one in the back of the picture has more forest green patches and the one in the front has splotches of deep, dark browns.

Which one would you pick?

Please leave a comment below and let me know your favorite!

P.S. I tried to take fancy schmancy pictures of my yarn like Jared Flood of Brooklyn Tweed does, but there’s horrible light in my apartment and I couldn’t hold my braced hand steady. Ugh. That man is a knitting genius though and one of my favorite textile/photography artists. Check him out.

Noodle, you are SOOOO funny. Your pictures are lovely! Just the right kind of “fancy”. ;)

Being that my favorite color just so happens to be green, if you were to be asking MY humble opinion, I’d say that BOTH are gorgeous. My natural inclination would say the colors in the top skein would be more my “norm” but seriously looking at the bottom one, with all the luscious browns…well, it’s hard to pick! I think I, personally, am leaning towards the one with brown in it. SO SURPRISING RIGHT?!?!?

My vote is for the top one!
