R.I.P. Lucy
On Thursday, August 14, 2008 at approximately 3:00 in the morning, beloved family pet Lucy Whitecotton Bartholow suffered from a sudden, unknown illness and eventually passed away from complications due to a possible stroke. Lucy spent the last week of her life at a lakeside retreat, passing time watching ducks swim by.
This sweet Shar Pei mix has given 14 years of loyal service, love and protection. The stories of her bravery and uncanny ability to sense danger are numberless. As are the stories of her ceaseless love, empathy and playfullness. She joins a long line of family pets residing in heaven, such as Snickers the Pick-a-Poo mix, LingLing the loyal, HoneyBunny the lame, Molly the Bichon Frise, several hermit crabs, another unamed rabbit, my brother’s turtle Mertle, Catfish the long living catfish, several weird guppies, a goldfish and possibly the odd cat. Though she goes to join those before her, Lucy will still be sorely missed. She is survived by her brother, Pocket the Chiwawa, and also leaves behind her lifelong caretakers, Susie & Richard Bartholow, as well as a large extended family.
Rest in peace, Lucy. We love you.

Susie says goodbye to Lucy one last time.

Lucy can hardly stand so Daddy is holding her upright for this final picture.

Poor little Pocket keeps looking for Lucy out the window.
