Keeping Austin Weird

That’s the city’s motto and that’s what I intend to do.

I know it has been a while since my last post, but I’ve been without the internet for more than a week (yikes!). I’ve come to realize how dependent I am on the net. Here’s a condensed version of this week’s events: Despite a couple of adventures along the way, my husband & I made it safely to the state of Texas. We left Chicago really early last Monday morning and had to drive through the thunder storms and tornadoes of Missouri and Oklahoma on our drive down. Then we stayed a couple of days at my mother’s house in Tolar, Texas where I got to watch Robbie’s ABA therapy (and his tantrums in full swing) and catch up with my little sis. I’m happy to announce that I didn’t pull a single muscle the entire time, but I did catch a bit of a cold, which I’m still slowly recovering from. My dog was “dog-napped” by the groomer while we were in Tolar, but I’ll have to tell that story another time. All in all, everything went smoothly with our relocation. We arrived in Austin on Thursday afternoon. People here are super friendly and several members of the SJN congregation have gone above and beyond in making us feel comfortable here. I’m spending the first night in our fabulous new apartment tonight!

I’ve had a real itch to get back to art making. However, my non-temperature-sensitive, but nonetheless essential, art supplies are somewhere on the moving truck and won’t be here for a while. So, until our belongings arrive, I’ll be spending my time looking for a day job (know of anything?), helping Z whip the music score room into shape, playing with Ringo, working out, exploring Austin and visiting my family as often as I can.

I’m sending all my love and warm thoughts your way (especially those of you still stuck in Chicagoland),

XOXO,

P.S. We finally decided on taking Ringo with us in the car, but here were some of our other ideas:
“Packing” Ringo, in a box

or in the luggage?
